JDF Co-operative Credit Union uncovers staff misconduct

The Jamaica Defence Force Co-operative Credit Union (JDFCCU) has confirmed that seven staff members have been arrested and formally charged by the police on suspicion of defrauding the credit union of approximately $4 million.

The suspicious activity was detected in the course of the JDFCCU’s internal checks and balances and, following internal investigations, a report was made to the police resulting in the arrests of the employees.

FINANCIAL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

The administrators of the JDFCCU have been in direct contact with the members whose accounts have been affected and confirmed to them that appropriate restitution is assured.

The JDFCCU has for 59 years provided a wide range of financial products and services for serving and ex-serving military employees of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) as well as current and former civilian employees of the JDF.

Membership also includes adult members of the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force, employees and members of organisations affiliated with the JDF and JDFCCU, including suppliers, professional groups and associations.

As a member of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League, the award-winning JDFCCU has consistently operated with due diligence and professionalism, exceeding requirements established by the Bank of Jamaica.

The JDFCCU, remains a secure, viable and sustainable organisation whose main objective is to protect the interest of its members.
