The Jamaica Labour Party’s Duane Smith emerged the victor following today’s by-election in the St Andrew North Western constituency.
Smith had little competition in securing the constituency after he secured a total of 1863 votes ahead of independent candidate Carl Marshall, who amassed 111 votes.
Independent candidate Rohan Banks, who was initially nominated to contest in the by-election, withdrew a few days leading up to the by-election.

There was an overall voter turnout of 6.2 per cent. Some 31,729 persons were eligible to vote.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica says these are preliminary results. The official results will be published after the final count is done by the returning officer.
