Veteran Jamaican entertainer Kiprich says it’t been heartening to see the feedback to his new video Empty Barrel (Winnin in Dem Mind), released on Monday (October 18).

Shot and produced by Shervel TheSheep, the video features clips of Elaine Thompson-Herah winning the 100m at the Tokyo Olympic Games this past summer and the artiste speaking to an empty barrel.

“The feedback has been very strong in a positive way, people talking about the catchy melodies in the song and relatable lyrics,” he told Our Today about the song that was produced by BoysieJetlife and Iclips Records.

“I feel good with the outcome; the main message is about letting ‘empty barrels’ – people who talk a lot of negativity and have nothing to offer – know that they can’t stop blessing. So, I am encouraging people to find happiness, enjoy themselves while empty barrels make noise.

“As for video concept, my brother Ricky Sofocus and Sheep came up the ideas. What stands out for me with the video is the empty barrel that I was talking to.”

The project is being marketed by Tower Music Media Group (TMMG) and The Black Shepherd Code.

Meanwhile, Kiprich said he is looking forward to performing more as the restrictions on performances are eased.

“The pandemic has affected show business on a whole. I do shows in the USA but most of the other countries I regularly travel to for shows are still suffering from the pandemic hit. I am going the Dominican Republic in December, so slowly but surely, everywhere will free up for us to be back on the road the right way.”

Born Marlon Plunkett, Kiprich shot to fame in the late 1990s with his first major hit Leggo Di Bwoy. Other hits in the early 2000s, like Mad Sick Head No Good with Predator and Telephone Ting and The Letter, further raised his stock as one of Jamaica’s leading entertainers.

This past summer he released the single Stay Far. Earlier this month, he was a featured vocal on Delly Ranks’ Cream Soda Rhythm along with several other acts, including other veteran acts Chuck Fenda and Norris Man.
