Since the creation of the Reggae category in 1985, the total Grammy wins held by the Marleys is a whopping 14 of 39.

This means 35.9 per cent of the wins in the category belong to the iconic Reggae family. Ziggy Marley, the firstborn of reggae legend Bob Marley, has won eight Grammy Awards as a solo artiste; he’s won the Best Reggae Album category seven times (recordingacademy.com).

The 2024 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album was won by Julian Marley and Antaeus for the album, Colours of Royal.

The Marley family’s dominance in the Grammy category has been lauded by reggae aficionados and casual fans alike.

Along with Ziggy and most recently Julian, other Marley awardees include:

Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley

  • HalfwayTree (2002),
  • Welcome to Jamcrock (2006),
  • Stony Hill (2018),

Stephen Marley

  • Mind Control (2008),
  • Mind Control Acoustics (2010),
  • Stephen Marley – Revelation Pt. 1 – The Root of Life (2012)

Each win has further cemented the Marley’s family name in the history of reggae music, following in their father’s footsteps.

There’s no real surprise that the talented family is embroidered with strengths that include acting, producing, authoring, clothing designing and surely many more.

There is even less of a surprise that they have achieved this many Grammy wins in that regard.
