Recording artiste Mitsy ‘Shuga’ Campbell on Wednesday night officially launched the recording of her remake of Bobby Bloom’s global hit song Montego Bay during a special celebration of S Hotel Montego Bay, marking the property’s recent recognition as Best All-Inclusive Caribbean Resort for 2026 by USA Today Readers’ Choice 10 Best Awards.
The event was held at S Club.
Campbell, who rose to fame after winning Digicel Rising Stars in 2009 under the name ‘Brown Sugar’, later rebranding as ‘Shuga, unveiled the project in front of invited guests, which included tourism stakeholders and city officials.
Mayor of Montego Bay Councillor Richard Vernon praised the artiste and the creative teams involved in the production, highlighting the cultural significance of the moment.
“You have given Montego Bay a new song to carry into the world. May it travel far, and may it remind listeners everywhere that our city’s true treasure is its creativity—bold, resilient and authentic,” Vernon said.

“Mitsy ‘Shuga’ Campbell has given us a new anthem, and with it she hands us a mirror—a way to see our city, our streets, and our people, whose talent makes this city breathe,” he continued.
The celebration also carried a strong community focus. Christopher Issa, CEO of S Hotel Jamaica, announced a major humanitarian initiative connected to the project.
“Shuga and Michelle [Williams, of VP Records] were out there working on the shelters today [Wednesday], and we’re happy to let you know, Minister [of Tourism Edmund Bartlett], that Shuga will be donating one of the houses to persons in her neighbourhood,” Issa announced.
The evening blended music, civic pride and social responsibility, reinforcing Montego Bay’s reputation not only as a world-class tourism destination but also as a hub of Jamaican creativity and community spirit.
