After a week of national heartbreak following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, Jamaican entertainment promoters are stepping up to bring hope and healing.

Livewire returns for its sixth staging on November 20 at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records, using the power of dancehall music to inspire unity, generosity, and recovery across the island.

The upcoming event will feature performances from Govanna, IWaata, and Quada, rallying Jamaicans together in a show that fuses entertainment with empathy. This special edition of Livewire will serve as a nationwide call to action to support those affected in western Jamaica.

Organisers Yung Kings Entertainment have reimagined the event as a platform for both enjoyment and assistance. Donation drop boxes will be positioned throughout the venue, and patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, tarpaulins, sanitary products, and other essential supplies to aid the ongoing relief efforts.

“As Jamaicans, we’ve always been strongest when we come together,” said Carlton Davy of Yung Kings Entertainment. “This staging of Livewire is about providing immediate and actionable relief for those living in volatile and devastated areas. We want people to know that every small contribution counts.”

Since its inception, Livewire has cemented its reputation as one of Kingston’s standout live music events, supported by the legendary Ruff Kutt Band and featuring some of the biggest names in Jamaican music, including Agent Sasco, Valiant, Armanii, Bayka, Bugle, and Jahshii. The sixth staging continues that tradition, combining high-energy performances with a deeper purpose.

For headliner Govanna, the event represents positive action. His manager, Demonie ‘Squidell’ Wilson, disclosed, “Right now, the country needs love, unity, and action,” Govanna shared. “I’m proud to be part of a show that’s giving back directly to the people who need it most. We’re doing this through music and togetherness, through the same energy that keeps Jamaica strong even in the hardest times.”

Tracks and Records echoed that sentiment through emphasising the collective responsibility of artists and audiences alike: “We have to do what we can to help our brothers and sisters in need. We assist through music, encouraging everyone to turn out with items they wish to donate so we can give strength to the people who need it.”
