Former British No. 1 Kyle Edmund has announced his retirement from professional tennis, saying his body has finally “reached the end point” after years of battling injuries.
Edmund, 30, leaves the sport with a career many young players dream of.
He reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2018—becoming only the second British man in the Open era, after Sir Andy Murray, to make it that far in Melbourne. At the peak of his career, he climbed as high as 14th in the world rankings.
But the last few years have been a struggle. Persistent knee problems have plagued Edmund since 2020, leading to three surgeries and long periods away from the tour.
Despite the early end to his playing days, Edmund remains proud of what he achieved and grateful for the journey.
