A 90s pop classic spoke of “life after love” but a new play opening October 11 from playwright-director Douglas Prout [“Con Artist”] seeks to invert the question.
TIMELESS, which will play at Kingston’s Little Little Theatre, is a new, poignant, two-act play that dares to celebrate the enduring power of love beyond mortality.
The story, which Prout describes as “a nostalgic love story that unfolds as a reflection on eternity and our fragile human existence,” gathers momentum shortly after the “deaths” of Eddy – played by Alwyn Scott – and Ephelia – played by Shanique Brown[GiHRL], the mature couple whose lifelong bond now transcends the boundaries of time.
Awakening in the afterlife—half-remembering, half-dreaming, they are closely observed by two mysterious characters fittingly nicknamed “Gabby”[ played by Kadeem Wilson] and “Lucie” [played by Susie Braham-Edwards].
There, they begin to recount their journey together through a series of lyrical, often humorous flashbacks and soul-stirring songs that capture the beauty, levity, and heartbreak of their shared years.
“Timeless” offers a fresh take on a universal issue
