Sidem Ozturk, the fiancé of incarcerated international dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, has stated their relationship is not a public relations move, as she attempts to put an end to rumours that the relationship she shares with the 46-year-old is fake.
After news broke recently about hte pair’s engagement, many fans started speculate on social media that the relationship was made up to support new music coming out from the DJ.
However, in an interview with entertainment website Urban Islandz, Ozturk sought to clear the air, arguing that the relationship was “not a publicity stunt or a ‘for your entertainment’ scenario”.
“Addi is in the spotlight, so naturally developments in his life are going to be highlighted in the media, but what people are clearly forgetting is he has a life of his own, we have a life of our own and not everything is done for media coverage,” said Ozturk.

She labelled the PR allegations as hilarious and silly and added that “doubters will believe in what they will”.
Ozturk, 32, is Turkish-born but migrated to the United Kingdom (UK) at a young age.
She left the UK and moved to Jamaica to maintain a relationship with the Rampin Shop artiste, a decision for which she has also faced heavy backlash.
Ozturk shared that she is following her heart and that she truly believes in what she and Kartel have.
“I quit my job and left my life in London because I truly believe in what Addi and I have. People are under the impression that I am new in Addi’s life or that we haven’t built a solid foundation,” said Ozturk.

“Me moving to Jamaica was long overdue – what people are seeing now is what we have built over the years.”
She also responded to people who have labeled her a ‘yam head’ and stated that she is a strong-minded person who goes after what she wants.
When asked how else the two maintain their relationship, she shared that she often attends prison visits and has authorised telephone calls with her fiance.

Vybz Kartel is currently in prison, serving a life imprisonment for the murder of associate Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
The ‘World Boss’ has not yet spoken on news of his engagement to Ozturk but is optimistic that he will be released from prison.
He is in the process of making an appeal to the highest court in Jamaica, the UK-based Privy Council, claiming evidence tampering during his trial that took place in 2014.
