As the countdown to the US presidential election continues, former President Donald Trump is the subject of online joshing, with social media users on X.com likening him to the Oompa Loompa characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This trending topic gained traction overnight, with over 18,000 posts, as Democratic supporters shared memes and comparisons to mock Trump’s appearance.

The hashtags #OompaLoompaTrump and #OompaLoompa have ignited a mix of humour and political commentary, reflecting the divisive atmosphere surrounding the election. Users are sharing images, videos, and jokes that portray Trump in the whimsical, orange-hued light of the Oompa Loompas, known for their distinct look and quirky behaviour in Roald Dahl’s beloved story.

“Oompa Loompas are entertainers, not presidents!” wrote one commenter.

The trend reinforces the function of social media in shaping public perception and the often satirical nature of political commentary. Notably, X.com, former Twitter is renowned as the social media app where users go to express their woes.

As election day approaches, it remains to be seen how this trend will impact Trump’s image and campaign efforts. The former president has a long history of engaging with social media, often using it to respond to criticism and rally his supporters.

While the #OompaLoompaTrump trend may be seen as light-hearted fun by some, it can also be viewed as a display of the ongoing tensions in American politics as the nation prepares for a gruesome electoral battle.
