The Sovereign Centre’s Palace Cineplex, which has remained closed due to the COVID-19 restriction measures, will reopen tomorrow (May 4).
Operators of the Cineplex, Palace Amusement Company made the announcement in a notice to the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), where the company shares are publicly traded.
In the notice Palace Amusement advises that, “as a result of the relaxation of the Government restrictions placed on the entertainment industry and public gatherings, the decision has been taken to re-open Palace Cineplex effective Wednesday, May 4, 2022.”
The reopening of the Cineplex, located at Shop 47a Sovereign Centre, Kingston 6, marks the full reopening of cinemas operated by the Palace Amusement circuit, with all others being reopened on a phased basis earlier.
The reopening of cinemas operated by Palace Amusement is good news for the company, which has been reeling from the negative effects of the pandemic, forcing the movie company to borrow money to keep its operations afloat and ride out the restrictions and public gathering protocols.
