State-owned refinery Petrojam effected a minimal reduction in baseline pump prices for a second consecutive week, offering some reprieve for Jamaican industries and the general motoring public.
In its closely watched petroleum product price index, Petrojam slashed 87-octane gasolene by 78 cents, to open at J$159.38 per litre, effective midnight Thursday (July 31).
The price cut was consistent across the refinery’s commodity regimen, with the exception of propane, butane and asphalt, which were revised upward by 94 cents, 65 cents and J$1.04, respectively.
It is expected that retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
