The People’s National Party (PNP) mourns the passing of Rudyard ‘Ruddy’ Ellis, a dedicated educator, public servant, and committed party stalwart, whose life was marked by service to country, community, and faith.

Originally from Westmoreland, Ellis made a lasting impact in the parish of St Mary, where he distinguished himself as a teacher and principal, shaping the lives of countless students through his commitment to education and mentorship.

His contributions to the education sector were further reflected in his service as a member of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Council, where he consistently advocated for the advancement of educators and the strengthening of Jamaica’s education system.

Beyond education, Ellis gave dedicated service to national development as a board member of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), bringing his experience and integrity to public service. Within the People’s National Party, he served as a member of the National Executive Council, offering leadership, guidance, and unwavering commitment to the principles of social justice and national progress.

“A devout Baptist, Ellis’ life was anchored in faith, humility, and service to others. He will be remembered as a man of conviction, quiet strength, and deep commitment to the betterment of Jamaica,” the PNP said.

“The People’s National Party extends sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, the education fraternity, and the wider community as they mourn this profound loss. We honour his legacy and give thanks for a life well lived in service to the Jamaican people.”
