If you are a parent to a toddler, chances are you may know and love CoComelon, the baby friendly channel that gets babies laughing and dancing to every song and allows you to get those chores done.
CoComelon is one of Nextflix’s most popular children’s series and a giggly, musical delight with repetitive lyrics that cater to babies all around the world.
On Monday (September 5) news emerged that CoComelon and Netflix plan to go big in 2023 by releasing a new series called, CoComelon Lane where the characters speak.
Episodes will feature main character and fan favourite JJ, a toddler with a tiny curl of hair on the top of his head and two teeth.
CoComelon Lane will be targeting children a little bit older at three to five years old.
The plan for CoComelon Lane is to continue with kids who have fallen in love with JJ and friends since they were toddlers and move with them through their development.
A new hour-long special released this week, called Fun with Family and Friends, consists of 20 new musical animated shorts. It’s the first CoComelon content exclusively available on Netflix.
The company has also opted to license songs parents will easily recognise, such as Twist and Shout and Stand by Me.
CoComelon was originally created in 2005 by Jay Jeon, a father in California who had the idea to use songs to teach his own two kids.
He began uploading the videos to YouTube. Those videos eventually grew to gain billions of views and millions of followers – 142 million to be exact. In 2020 CoComelon was acquired by British company Moonbug Entertainment.
The franchise has since been expanded with spin-offs, a podcast on Spotify and a new live tour called CoComelon Live and will be kicking off on September 16 in Baltimore, United States.
