Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League will resume on Wednesday, March 5, with one game after the referees and football stakeholders successfully resolved their issues and all of the $8m outstanding were paid in full on Tuesday.
The Jamaica Referees Association (JRA) went on strike, which affected seven premier league games on Sunday and Monday but the football stakeholders, The Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), in collaboration with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), were locked in a 48-hour meeting that ended the strike action.
Chris Williams, Chairman of PFJL, said following productive discussions over the last 48 hours, they are pleased to announce that the matches scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, March 5th and 6th, 2025 will proceed as planned.
“The Jamaica Premier League is the heartbeat of football in our country, impacting countless lives and livelihoods. We extend our sincere apologies to the fans and all those affected by the postponements last match weekend. Rest assured, we are committed to ensuring such interruptions do not re-occur,” said Williams, in a press release Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, JFF president Michael Ricketts, noted that JFF remains dedicated to upholding fairness and balance in all aspects of the sport.

“We are excited to witness the return of matches in the fiercely contested Jamaica Premier League and urge fans to show their unwavering support,” he pleaded.
Expressing delight at the positive outcome of the recent dialogue, Valdin Ledgister, President of the JFRA, said they are thrilled the problem has been solved. “The Association and all its members are thrilled with the resolution reached during the past 48 hours, and are fully prepared to officiate matches,” said Legister.
