Radio Jamaica Limited (RJL), the parent company in the RJRGleaner Communications Group, is announcing changes to its Board of Directors.

The board, in a statement yesterday (March 31), welcomed Peter Melhado to fill an existing vacancy on its board.

The appointment is effective March 31, 2023.

A seasoned businessman, banker, engineer and current CEO of the ICD Group, Melhado is also chairman of Sagicor Group and Red Stripe. He has previously held positions in UK-based construction company Kier International and the Manufacturers Group in Jamaica.

He has served in the insurance, business process outsourcing and construction industries. He is a mechanical engineer and also has an MBA with a Finance concentration.

The RJL board, at its meeting yesterday, thanked urban planner and academic Professor Carol Archer of the University of Technology, who, after six and a half years on the board and 21 years on the board of the Gleaner Company (Media) Limited, has resigned her directorship. The resignation is effective April 30, 2023.

Archer’s academic activities and her urban planning expertise are being expanded both locally and internationally, placing greater demands on her time and making it difficult to continue as a director.
