Patron at the Manchester Kite Festival Andrew Peart introduces his son, Alexander to the joy of kite flying at the recent event.

Scotiabank  partnered with the Manchester Kite Festival, bringing together families, community members and patrons for a vibrant celebration of one of Jamaica’s most cherished Easter traditions—the flying of kites.

Against a backdrop of clear skies and colourful displays, the festival paid tribute to a pastime that has long symbolised hope, renewal and togetherness.

As kites of every shape and hue took to the air, Scotiabank’s presence on the ground proved just as uplifting. Through meaningful engagement with patrons, the Bank reinforced its commitment to financial wellness and showcased a suite of innovative banking solutions designed to make everyday banking simpler, safer and more accessible.

“Being part of events like the Manchester Kite Festival is deeply important to us,” said Craig Richards, Manager of Scotiabank’s Mandeville branch. “ These occasions give us the opportunity to connect directly with the communities we serve, gain a deeper understanding of their needs and develop solutions that are truly aligned with their realities. We also greatly value the feedback we receive at community events  as it plays a critical role in helping us  refine and enhance our products and services.”

The Scotiabank booth at the Manchester Kite Festival had the right balance of fun and financial fundamentals as demonstrated by Scotiabank customer service officers Colene Cunningham and Ashley Crawford.

Richards also highlighted a feature that has been among the most frequently requested by clients -the ability to lock and unlock debit cards through the Scotia Caribbean mobile app. “We were especially pleased to share with patrons that this feature is now available,” he said. “Clients can also

apply for loans and credit cards, access final expense insurance, and dispute credit card transactions directly through the mobile app. These enhancements give our clients greater control over their finances, along with added security and peace of mind.”

Emphasising the Bank’s broader innovation strategy, Richards added: “At Scotiabank, we remain committed to raising the bar by delivering secure, intuitive, and customer-focused banking experiences that make everyday banking simpler and more accessible for everyone.”

Event organizers also welcomed the Bank’s involvement. “Scotiabank’s financial expertise perfectly complemented the family-friendly atmosphere of the festival adding tremendous value to an experience that also featured health screenings and activities focused on community wellbeing,” said Mikayla Haldane of H2 Solutions and Coordinator of the Manchester Kite Festival and Family Fun Day.

The Manchester Kite Festival, now in its fourth staging, was hosted at Manchester High School, continuing to grow as a signature Easter event that blends culture, community and connection.
