…Partnering on a new album
Jamaican dancehall artiste Shaggy has partnered with English musician, singer, songwriter and actor, Sting, on another album.
This will be their second album together after their success on the Grammy-winning 44/876 album back in 2019.
The new Sting-produced project, which debuts May 25, sees Shaggy singing the Frank Sinatra songbook in a reggae style.
It’s called Come Fly Wid Mi, and it’s the product of what Sting calls a “crazy idea” he had while touring with the Jamaican legend several years back.
The album includes That’s Life, followed by Come Fly With Me, That Old Black Magic; Luck Be a Lady; Witchcraft, Under My Skin and Angel Eyes.
Commenting on his track on the album, Shaggy remarked: “I’ve always been a Sinatra fan. As a child, Frank’s music was often playing in our house and on Sundays, all of the Jamaican radio stations would play the greats – Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc.”
Continuing Shaggy heaped lots of praises on Sting, saying: “It’s great to be working with Sting again. He’s the brother I never knew I needed!”
The pair will be holding a special one-night-only concert on May 26 at the Blue Note in New York City.
