
LASCO Chin Foundation (LCF) Chairman Lascelles Chin has expressed his ongoing support for civil servants including members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Chin, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Charmaine Shand, Superintendent of Police Velma Thomas Gayle and the six contenders for the LASCO/Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Saluting Our Heroes and Chairman’s Awards, was engaging in a courtesy call with Governor General Sir Patrick Allen at King’s House last Friday (October 21).

During the discussion with the governoor general, Thomas Gayle expressed thanks to LASCO on behalf of the JCF and outlined for Sir Patrick the criteria selection process.
Eligibility for selection is based on the following criteria:
- Nominees must be active members of the JCF/District Constable Association;
- Nominees must be trustworthy, respectful and enhancing brand JCF;
- Nominees must be an embodiment of the concept of community-based policing;
- Nominees must have no disciplinary action against them;
- Nominees must demonstrate proven leadership capabilities at work and in communities.

Sir Patrick thanked the officers for their great work and congratulated them on being rewarded with recognition as they protect and serve the Jamaican citizenry.
The governor general noted that the top six represent the vanguards of the force.

Woman Sergeant Alsian Grant (Area 1); Corporal Rohan Smith (Area 2); Detective Constable Camoy Stewart ( Area 3); District Constable Alfred Palmer (Area 4); Woman Sergeant Winsome Higgins (Area 5) and Woman Constable Georgina Sterling (Non Geo) were selected as finalists after being nominated and reviewed by their peers and members of their community.
