Spur Tree Spices unveiled its “Spice up di ting” line of dry rub seasonings on Wednesday, May 1 during a launch event at Jamaica Promotions Corporation in St Andrew.

The two-year development process of the dry rubs was driven by direct customer feedback and market insights. The new dry rubs are now available in local and international markets, poised to spice up kitchens worldwide with a taste of Jamaica.

Spur Tree Spices CEO Albert Bailey said the dry seasonings are a bigger market and now that the company’s capacity has increased, it’s only fitting that they move to the bigger market segment.

Founding Director Mohan Jagnarine added, “We’ve always aimed to stand out in the market…Spur Tree has always aspired to be different in the market and these dry rubs are complete seasonings, thus making them stand out.”

Spur Tree Spices is also very dedicated to supporting local agriculture.

“We will buy [from the local farmers] as much as we can get. Our first aim is to source local,” Jagnarine said.

The “Spice up di ting” line includes a variety of flavours, including jerk, fish, chicken, pork and all-purpose seasonings tailored to make cooking simpler and more flavourful. Each seasoning will enhance both meat and vegetarian dishes, ensuring versatility and broad appeal.

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green lauded Spur Tree Spices for its role in the agricultural sector.

“Spur Tree epitomises our ministry’s vision and significantly contributes to the growth of the sector. Tonight, we are not just launching new products but celebrating the rebrand of a major Jamaican agricultural enterprise. These revolutionary products will no doubt continue to place Jamaica on the global culinary map,” the minister said.
