Sydney Thwaites brings global expertise to Honey Bun Foundation Board

The Honey Bun Foundation has kicked off the year with a significant addition to its Board of Directors: Sydney Thwaites, Chief Executive Officer of Lubricating Specialities Company Jamaica Limited. 

His appointment further fortifies a board already recognised for its leadership and strategic guidance, positioning the Foundation to continue delivering impactful programmes across Jamaica.

Thwaites, a respected business leader, brings more than 30 years of executive and board-level experience spanning financial services, petrochemical, and consulting industries.

His career includes leadership roles in Jamaica and across international markets, with a strong focus on building sustainable enterprises, strengthening governance, and driving long-term value. He has also served as President of the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA), advocating for local manufacturers and exporters while contributing to national economic dialogue.

Commenting on his appointment, Thwaites said: “I am honoured to join the Board of the Honey Bun Foundation, an organisation that has made a real contribution to entrepreneurship and national resilience. I look forward to supporting the Foundation’s work and helping to strengthen its impact across Jamaica.”

Welcoming his appointment, Founder of the Honey Bun Foundation, Michelle Chong, said: “Sydney brings a wealth of experience, sound judgement, and a strong commitment to Jamaican enterprise. His leadership and insight will add significant value as the Foundation continues to pursue its mission of empowering small and medium businesses and the creative industries in Jamaica.”

Thwaites joins a board already composed of: Robert Scott, Howard James, Dr Lawrence Nicholson, and Ian ‘Ity’ Ellis.
