TikTok creator Nara Aziza Smith addresses public criticism over her ‘Trad Wife’ label — a term referring to women who perform traditional wife roles — by dismissing it as irrelevant to her personal choices.

The 22-year-old mother of three is known for her viral cooking content and modelling. She has recently been vocal about her embrace of traditional wife roles but she is still a working mother. In an interview with Harpers Bazaar Smith wanted to make it clear that the life she presents on social media, is not the whole reality.

“That’s one of the narratives that I have a really hard time wrapping my head around: the trad wife, whatever it is,” she said. “You don’t see me getting on a plane, hopping to New York, modelling, coming back — all while I have a newborn — paying bills, filming content, getting my kids dressed.”

Smith’s content often highlights her cooking and catering to her husband and three children’s food cravings by making everything from scratch. Nara is famous for her homemade food recipes, which she prepares from scratch because of her long battle with eczema flare-ups.

“Being put into a certain box, just because people think that I’m slaving away, is so weird to me,” she continued. “I’m a working mom who gets to go about her day in a very different way than [someone with] a normal nine-to-five job would,”

Smith’s viral TikTok success has led to lucrative brand partnerships with Hourglass Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, and Marc Jacobs. Her popularity surged after a playful video where she “baked” a luxury handbag, showcasing her unique blend of creativity and style.

She has landed lucrative deals with makeup brands Hourglass Cosmetics and Charlotte Tilbury, along with Marc Jacobs, promoted by a TikTok of herself ‘baking’ a luxury handbag.

Despite facing criticism for appearing as a traditional wife, Smith’s impressive commercial achievements elucidate her ability to turn her personal story — her talents in the kitchen — into a thriving career.
