After nearly two decades of diving saves, dramatic shootouts, and countless pressure moments, Tim Krul has officially retired from professional football.

The 37-year-old Dutch goalkeeper made a lasting impression in the English Premier League with 222 appearances for Newcastle United and Norwich City, racking up 51 clean sheets and conceding 371 goals along the way.

A consistent and often underrated presence, Krul’s steady hands and big game nerves earned him 15 caps for the Netherlands.

His most iconic moment came on the group stage during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when he was famously subbed on just for a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal against Costa Rica and delivered, saving two spot kicks to send the Dutch through.

Krul, who has been without a club since parting ways with Luton Town at the end of the season, made the bulk of his Premier League appearances during his years at Newcastle, where he became a fan favourite.

One stat that stands out from his career: He shares the record for the most saves in a single Premier League match, which he achieved against Tottenham in 2013. Only David de Gea has matched it since.
