Every once in a while, there is a Tik Tok video that completely blows one’s mind. This week, a rather enlightening tidbit of information shared was the frequency at which Trinidadians and Jamaicans searched on Google for ‘gay pornography’.
The video, created by @davewiswell, found that among countries globally that utilise Google’s extremely useful search engine, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago ranked highly.

Our Today, reviewing the data presented by Google Trends can confirm the data as factual, which gets more eye-opening on a granular level.
According to Google Trends, in the last 12 months ending May 9, 2021, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica ranked third and fifth out of 72 countries analysed, with interest levels at 57 and 42 respectively.

In an explanation of the dataset, Google Trends said that the numbers represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for the given region and time.
“A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. A value of 50 means that the term is half as popular. A score of 0 means there was not enough data for this term,” Google indicated.
See list of top 10 countries and interest scores in the table below:

| Jamaica | 42 |
| South Africa | 40 |

Granularly, Google also broke down the interest popularity of gay porn on the parish level in Jamaica, which showed St Elizabeth, at 100, had the highest rate of searches on “gay porn”.
Kingston and St Andrew and Clarendon, tied at 81, ranked second on the search popularity index, followed in tow by Manchester (72), St Mary (70), St James (67), St Ann (65), St Catherine (62) and Westmoreland (47).

The most searched related query in Jamaica was “black gay porn”.
Google, however, did not have the requisite data to show the search popularity of “gay porn” in Trelawny, Portland, St Thomas and Hanover.
In Trinidad, the inter-regional breakdown was equally as surprising as Google Trends found that Siparia and San Fernando, with a 100 score, topped searches for “gay porn”.
Sangre Grande was third at 99, accompanied by Western Tobago (98), San Juan-Laventille (90), Diego Martin (89), Princes Town (88), Tunpuna-Piarco (87), Rio Claro-Mayaro (85) and Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo (82).

Also included were Port of Spain (82), Chaguanas (80), Penal-Debe (78) well as Arima (63).
Neither Point Fortin nor Eastern Tobago has the required data to be ranked.
In the meatime, the two most searched related queries in Trinidad and Tobago were “black gay porn” and “free gay porn”.
