Organisers of the Wanda Diamond League say its season-opening meet in Qatar’s capital, Doha, is still set for May 8, but they are keeping a close watch on the situation in the Middle East.

While the event remains on schedule, alternative plans are being considered as a precaution.

A final call is expected at least a month before the meet, with officials working alongside local organisers, Qatar’s athletics body, and global authorities to assess conditions. Athlete and spectator safety remains the top priority.

The ongoing conflict has already disrupted several major sporting events across the region, including Formula 1 races and international football fixtures.

After Doha, the Diamond League is scheduled to continue in China with meets in Shanghai and Xiamen.
