Young Jamaican wonderkid, Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, has officially made the switch from the Craig Butler-led Phoenix Football Academy and will join English Premier League (EPL) giants Chelsea FC, the London club announced today (January 12).
Chelsea, in a statement on Friday, said that having reached the playing age of 18, Richards is now training with the first-team squad during their pre-season tour of the United States.
Richards, who signed a pre-contract with Chelsea last March, has now finalised his switch to Stamford Bridge.
“I’m so pleased to be here,” said the promising forward. “My dream was always to sign a professional contract and to have the chance to do that here at Chelsea, it’s difficult to put into words the emotions. I just can’t wait to get started”.
The Port Royal, developed into a full international at the Phoenix Allstars Football Academy, which he joined at the age of 11.
A former standout player for Kingston College during its Manning Cup exploits, Richards has been capped ten times by Jamaica and scored his first international goal against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2023.
