The Sint Maarten police have confirmed that the decomposed body of a man found in the Dutch Quarter Nazareth area of the island is that of Jereth Dave Thomas, a Jamaican who was reported missing on January 4.

According to the local police, they received a report on January 18 of a lifeless body at a location in Nazareth. When they arrived, the advanced state of decomposition of the body presented challenges in the identification process.

Consequently, tests were conducted. It was later revealed that the body belonged to the 50-year-old Jamaican who resided at Richards Drive 5, in Middle Region on St. Maarten.

“The Sint Maarten Police Force expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. J.D. Thomas during this difficult time,” the police wrote in a release.

Thomas was reported missing by concerned family members on January 6. He was reportedly last seen on January 3.

The Sint Maarten police say evidence has led them to suspect foul play in the missing person case involving the Jamaican national.
