Nearly three years after dying in mysterious circumstances in October 2021, alleged cult leader Kevin Smith’s death has officially been ruled a suicide.
The ruling, which was handed down in the Coroner’s Court in St Andrew this morning (May 21), concluded that Smith intended to disrupt the path of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) service vehicle transporting him, which overturned along a section of the Linstead Bypass in St Catherine.
Smith and young police constable Orlando Irons succumbed to injuries they sustained when the disgraced pastor was being transferred from Montego Bay to Kingston on October 25, 2021.
The presiding judge further contended Smith directly caused Irons’ death as he clung to the left shoulder of the driver, in a clear display of dangerous and unlawful actions.
At the time, Our Today was informed that Smith, en route to the capital to face criminal charges, was under heavy police guard in a two-vehicle convoy.
Branded a cult leader following the ritualised killings of two members of his Pathways Christian Cathedral (PCC) just a week prior, Smith shot to notoriety after he was apprehended on October 18, 2021.
