The WNBA is entering a new era of growth, with the league approving expansion teams in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia that will push its total to 18 franchises by 2030.
Cleveland will be the first to join in 2028, followed by Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030.
The move continues a rapid stretch of growth for the league, with the Golden State Valkyries joining in 2025 and the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire set to follow soon after. The upcoming season tips off on May 8th, running through to September 24th.
