Nigerian singer Burna Boy will make entertainment history when he becomes the first Nigerian to headline a U.S stadium event in July 2023.
The news was announced by Billboard magazine today (March 3) who shared that the artiste would perform at the NYC’s Citi Field on July 8, making him the first Nigerian artiste to do so.
Known for hit singles such as Last Last, Bank On It and Toni- Ann Singh, a collab with Jamaican dancehall artiste Popcaan, the Nigerian singer has been taking Afrobeat international.
According to Billboard, the July 8th show marks another major stadium date in the Afro-fusion superstar’s Love, Damini world tour. Future stops for the tour include Paris La Defense, London Stadium and Gelre Dome in Amsterdam.

Burna Boy also had a Caribbean-leg of the Love, Damini tour in December, where he visited Jamaica, Trinidad and other islands in the region.
“It has always been my vision to build a bridge between all black people in all parts of the world through the music and performance,” he told Billboard in an interview.
This historic achievement will fall on the first anniversary of the Love Damini album, which peaked at number two on the Billboard’s World Albums chart. The album also earned him a Grammy nomination for best global music album.
