Cop charged with murder over shooting outside Trelawny nightclub

Constable Junior Howlett has been charged with murder over the shooting of a man outside a nightclub in Falmouth, Trelawny in late 2023.

Howlett was charged on a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) following an Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) probe.

The cop was placed before the Trelawny Parish Court on Thursday, September 27 and was offered bail in the sum of $900,000.00 with one to two sureties and reporting conditions.

The next court date is scheduled for October 16, 2024.

Constable Howlett was charged for the November 4, 2023 off-duty shooting of 25-year-old Adju Hall in the vicinity of a nightclub on Harbour Street in Falmouth, Trelawny. It is alleged that an altercation between Howlett and Hall resulted in the officer discharging his firearm.

No firearm was recovered from the deceased during this incident.
