Thanksgiving Day play made for a historically good night for the Dallas Cowboys who were at their dominant best against the Washington Commanders.
The night did not start particularly well on offense for either team with back-to-back punts, but the Cowboys would open up the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown.
Quarterback Dak Prescott would make a short throw to Rico Dowdle, who then ran for fifteen yards into the end zone for the score.
That scoring drive was final action of the first quarter.
The Commanders had a 50-yard possession to start the second quarter that led to a Joey Slye field goal make from 43 yards to put Washington on the board.
The ensuing Cowboys drive would see them double their points with a 75-yard drive down the field that ended in a 37-yard throw to Brandon Cooks into the endzone for a second touchdown of the night for Dallas.
Quarterback Sam Howell got in on the scoring action and rushed for a Commanders touchdown to put the visitors within one score.
However, Dallas would put some more distance between themselves and Washington with yet another touchdown drive.
In a mere 1:25, the Cowboys would move 70 yards and Tony Pollard would run right up the middle for seven yards and into the endzone.
A missed extra point meant that Dallas would have to settle for the original 6 points.
The Commanders were unable to respond before the end of the half and the half time score was 20-10, in favour of Dallas.
Both teams would be stymied on offense for the entirety of the third quarter with none of them scoring any points for the entire interval, as the defenses forced punts and turnovers for the full fifteen minutes.
Brandon Aubrey would open the scoring in the final quarter for the Cowboys with an impressive 52-yard field goal after an 11-play, 54-yard drive.
This would open the floodgates and the Commanders were sitting ducks for the rest of the game.
The Dallas defense would force turnovers on downs in back to back possessions and the offense would follow it up with touchdown drives.
Both CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin would find the end zone on back-to-back possessions and the Cowboys stretched their lead well beyond the reach of their visitors.
To add insult to injury, the Cowboys’ defense would also contribute to the scoring for the home team.
Daron Bland would intercept a pass intended for Jahan Dotson and run a remarkable 63 yards the other way for a touchdown.
This would be the fifth time this season Bland has returned an interception for a touchdown- the most in the league and more notably the most single-season pick- 6s in NFL history.

The Commanders would advance the ball 33 yards but did not get within scoring range and the game ended 45-10, in favour of the Cowboys.
This was Dallas’ 13th straight home victory, cementing their dominance on their home field.
They are now 8-3 and sit in second in the NFC East behind the dominant Philadelphia Eagles.
Other Thanksgiving winners were the Green Bay Packers, who took down the Detroit Lions 29-22 and the San Francisco 49ers who demolished the Seattle Seahawks 31-13.
