Jamaica’s Mount Pleasant FA were crowned CONCACAF Caribbean Cup champions after battling to a 2-2 draw with O&M FC in their second leg at the National Stadium in St Andrew and won the two-legged tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Mount Pleasant came into the game on Tuesday night with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in the Dominican Republic on November 25 and knew a draw would always be enough to clinch their first Caribbean title.

Then things got even better when O&M FC’s Junior Capellan was red carded in the 27th minute, but Frantzety Herard stunned Mount Pleasant and the National Stadium netting for the 10-men of O&M in the 45th.

Mount Pleasant’s record signing, Warner Brown, pulled them level in the 62nd minute, which restored their one-goal advantage and gave them a 2-1 lead overall.

But Julen Olasagasti gave O&M the lead once again and 2-2 on aggregate in the 69th minute, but more importantly, the advantage based on the away-goal rule.

Mount Pleasant were looking down and out as they failed to capitalise against a team playing with 10 men, as frustration started to kick in, and they looked nervous.

However, the player most Jamaicans are crying for to be included in the Reggae Boyz team, Tyreek MaGee, came up big, firing home in the 87th minute, making it 3-2 on aggregate for Mount Pleasant and securing their first Caribbean Cup title.

Mount Pleasant, formed just nine years ago in 2016, have now won their second major title, having won the Jamaican Premier League in 2023.

They have now joined Portmore United, Harbour View and Cavalier as the Jamaican teams to win the Caribbean Club Championship.

By advancing to the Final, both clubs have already qualified for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. As champions, Mount Pleasant FA secured a bye to the Round of 16.
