Jaxson Hayes won’t be showing off his moves on the court for the next game after a bizarre run-in with the Wizards’ mascot, G-Wiz.
During pregame introductions before the Lakers’ 142-111 win on Jan 30th, Hayes shoved the costumed character to the floor, and the NBA decided it wasn’t exactly funny.
The mascot wasn’t hurt, but the league still handed Hayes a one-game suspension without pay, which he’ll serve Thursday against the 76ers.
The 25-year-old big man has been carving out a role this season, averaging 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds, and is also set to compete in next weekend’s Slam Dunk contest.
Hayes has certainly thrown down plenty of highlight dunks, but this time, it was the mascot who hit the floor, and Hayes who’s paying the price.
