British number two tennis player Cameron Norrie has moved into the quarter-finals of the Los Cabos Open after defeating Australia’s James Duckworth in straight sets.
Norrie secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory to set up a last eight clash with former top 20 player Bernard Tomic.
The fifth seed had to battle back after falling behind 3-0 in the opening set before recovering to take control. In the second set, Norrie built a 5-2 lead after breaking Duckworth twice, before holding his nerve to close out the match.
The win comes after Norrie ended a six-match losing run in the opening round. He is now the second-highest-ranked player remaining in the tournament after top seed Jiri Lehecka was eliminated and Tomic produced an upset victory over fourth seed Karen Khachanov.
