British record holder Dina Asher-Smith and Olympic champion Julien Alfred have officially confirmed they will compete at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this summer. The athletics programme will be held at Scotstoun Stadium, with the Games scheduled to run from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
Asher Smith arrives with an impressive list of achievements, including national records in the 60m, 100m and 200m, along with world and European titles. One prize still missing, however, is an individual Commonwealth gold medal, something she will be aiming to change this time around.
Standing in her way could be Alfred, who continues to rise after capturing Olympic gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m at Paris 2024. The Saint Lucian star will be eager to upgrade the 100m silver she earned at the Birmingham Games in 2022.
Their potential clash adds extra excitement to a sprint lineup expected to feature top athletes from across the Caribbean, Africa and the wider Commonwealth, along with emerging local talent in Scotland.
