Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley will spearhead Great Britain’s singles line-up for next week’s Davis Cup relegation playoff against Poland, as rising star Jack Draper misses out due to injury.

Draper, currently ranked world number five, was forced to withdraw from the US Open ahead of his second-round match last week, still hampered by a nagging arm injury that also affected his tournament buildup.

The high-stakes tie will take place in Gdynia, Poland, from September 12th –13th, with Britain fighting to avoid relegation from the top tier of the Davis Cup. The fixture is a best-of-five clash against an unseeded Polish side.

Norrie returns to action following a strong summer that included a quarter-final run at Wimbledon, where he lost to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz and a fourth-round finish at Roland Garros, where he took down Daniil Medvedev and teammate Fearnley.

Fearnley, ranked 60th in the world, continues his impressive rise. The 24-year-old enjoyed a breakout Davis Cup debut in January with a straight-sets win over former world number four Kei Nishikori. More recently, he claimed his first US Open main draw win, defeating veteran Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut. Also named in the squad is 23-year-old Arthur Fery, who stunned 20th seed Alexei Popyrin at Wimbledon this year and claimed his maiden Challenger title in Colombia earlier this month.

In doubles, world number one pairing Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash are set to make their Davis Cup debuts for Britain in this tie.

The British team is looking to bounce back after a narrow 3-2 defeat to Japan in February’s opening round, a tie played without both Norrie and Draper. Now, captain Leon Smith’s side must win in Poland to move into the 2026 qualifying phase and keep alive their hopes of reaching this year’s eight-nation finals.
