Napoli have turned to experience in the dugout, appointing Massimiliano Allegri as their new head coach on a deal running until June 2029.
He steps in after the departure of Antonio Conte, who left at the end of May following two seasons in charge, including a Serie A title in 2024–25 and a second-place finish the following year.
Allegri returns to a familiar setting, having briefly played for Napoli during the 1997–98 season.
Before the move was finalised, Napoli waited for him to settle the exit from his previous role at Milan.
Allegri’s résumé includes a Serie A title with Milan in 2011 and a highly successful spell at Juventus, where he collected five league titles, multiple domestic cups, and reached two Champions League finals. He later returned to Juventus and added another Coppa Italia trophy in 2024 before his most recent stint at Milan.
