The West Indies have secured their first Test series victory over Sri Lanka in 23 years after the second match in Antigua ended in a draw, giving the hosts a 1-0 series win.
The achievement was powered by strong batting displays from Justin Greaves and Shai Hope, who helped the West Indies reach 499 all out after Sri Lanka posted 549 in the first innings.
Greaves delivered the biggest innings of his career, spending more than eight hours at the crease on his way to 180 runs from 325 deliveries, including 14 fours and two sixes. He combined with Hope, who scored a composed 112, for a record 242 run fifth wicket partnership at the venue.
The performance saw the West Indies reach 400 plus after conceding more than 500 runs in a Test innings for the first time since 2015, while three batters in the series also recorded scores of 150 or more for the first time since 2005.
The series victory was captain Roston Chase’s first in charge and ended a run of 10 Test series without a win since 2023. The West Indies will now turn their attention to a two-Test series against Pakistan, scheduled for July 25th to August 7th in Trinidad
